The Phuket Governor is lobbying for lower taxi fares - good luck taking on the taxi firms (see previous blogs). Interesting letter in the Gazette from a driver who drinks and drives because the taxis are so expensive BUT if he kills someone he will advocate all responsibility - watch this space........
The winners of Miss Phuket Bike Week were 16 and 15!!!!!! AND the next week there is a letter of complaint - "I agreed with it". The Phuket Post's response was childish - a newspaper? - that replies "Keep you posted"

The Visakha Bucha religious ceremony marks the birth, enlightenment, and death of Lord Buddha and is the holiest of all the auspicious Buddhist events. All over the country, Thais visit the temples to listen to sermons by revered monks and make merit. Shortly after sunset (which will be a full moon), candlelit circumambulations take place around major temples while the ritual is observed at temples throughout the country.

Then where does tourism go? Bangkok Post. The tourism sector took the heaviest hit and could lose up to 80 billion baht because at least 47 countries had warned their people about the security situation in Thailand.
