Petchabun - Day 1

We needed a coffee and petrol early on - Cafe Amazon was an easy stop.

Then there was a temple in Saraburi - วัดไทยงาม หนองแค - but I could find very little information.

Very soon after this (I think) there was an amazing glimpse of white in the distance and in the hills. It was - วัดถ้ำเขาปรางค์ - wonderful.

Then the was another place to stop and this one was an enormous collection of temples! This is called the 'Temple of the Glass Cliff' - Wat Phra That Pha Son Kaew - and I do not know how many places there are to visit here!!

It was really quite spectacular and I could have taken photographs all day!

Then we had lunch at a restaurant called Moai@Khao-Kho and it had statues from the Easter Island outside it!?

Then up onto the hill - above the clouds - Phu Thap Boek - a spot high above the clouds!

Then there was a clock at the very very top - อาคารหอดูดาวและที่วัดอุณหภูมิ ณ จุดชมวิวภูทับเบิก. What a journey - and it was a little cold (compared to my usual day).

Then we found somewhere to stay the night - ต้อเซี้ยทับเบิก.

Essential Travel Guide to Phuket

Original from Culture Trip

Rayong and Chanthaburi (Somewhere to go) (Part 1)

We had a couple of nights away during the school holidays.

We first stopped at a Cafe Kantary in Rayong.

Then we stopped at Phra Chedi Klang Nam - it was a place to take a break on the journey but not much more.

Then a walk in the Mangrove Forest.

After that exercise it was time for lunch at a Chinese Restaurant - ข้าวมันไก่ตอน นายอู๋ สาขา 1 - very tasty noodles they were!!

Then to was time for a Wat and a Golden Buddha - Wat Taphong Nok - I could find no information about this place.

Here is a map of where it is on Google Maps.

Then we looked for somewhere  to stay in Rayong and we came upon Bandara On the Sea Rayong Mae Pim.

It was a lovely place to stay for one night and we had dinner on the beach later.

But first we visited a White Temple - very impressive and quite serene - วัดพลงไสว - and worth visiting.

And a White Buddha.

And more...

Then we came upon a Thai / Chinese Shrine at the edge of the water - เสด็จแม่พิมพ์ - but could find very little information about it for this blog.

AND there was a memorial to someone. Then back to Bandara On the Sea Rayong Mae Pim and

dinner on the beach at Wong Restaurant. Ready for the next day.

Pig Memorial (Somewhere to go) (Sahachat Shrine) (BKK) Visit 1

Pig Memorial was not something that I was looking for but it was certainly a fascinating place that I came upon when I was on a Bangkok Walk - Rattanoskin.

Here's some information -

"Designed by Prince Naris, this golden pig statue was created in 1913 at the 50th birthday anniversary of Queen Phatcharinthra, one of King Rama V's wives, who was born in the Chinese year of the pig. In Thai it is also known as the Sahachat Memorial, that means "the memorial of those born in the year of the pig"
- from Pangeaguides.

Best visited in the 'Year of the Pig'.

Apichart Seafood Restaurant (BKK) Visit ?

We had a wonderful dinner again and if you go midweek there are a great less people dining so you get your food a lot quicker.

The freshly grilled prawns were wonderful.

The deep fried fish delicious.

Standard fish was very nice, unfortunately no Som Tam without extra spice for me this time.

The prawn with noodles and crab were wonderful.

They even had oysters.

And so much more - we will certainly go again...
