Ratchaphakdi Park (Hua Hin)

We came upon Ratchaphakdi Park on our trip to Hua Hin, and on writing this I wanted to visit again.

There are seven statues of former Kings of Thailand and they are approximately how much each would weigh I have no idea - I would like to see the building of this place!!!

The Kings represented here are -

1) King Ramkhamhaeng (reigned 1279-1298) of the Sukhothai Period

2) King Naresuan (1590-1605) of the Ayutthaya Period

3) King Narai (1656-1688) of the Ayutthaya Period

4) King Taksin (1767-1782) of the Thonburi Period

5) King Rama I (1782-1809) of the Rattanakosin Period

6) King Mongkut (1851-1868) of the Rattanakosin Period

7) King Chulalongkorn (1868-1910) of the Rattanakosin Period.

They were built by the military government after the coup to inspire the loyalty of the people to the monarchy in Thailand. Here's something about it being built.

We even had a Cape Panwa Hotel teddy bear in the car! I have since read that it is best to visit in the early morning because of the sun rising and then in the early evening because they are lit up!

A trip to Nakon Pathom

Nakhom Pathom is only 56km from Bangkok - so we took a trip.

We first came upon an enormous lake and then

an enormous structure - not sure what it represents.

Then it was time for a chocolate milkshakes

and some breakfast. We had this at Cafe Du Phin - very good.

Then it was time to visit a temple - Wat Don Whai.

And we took a trip around the temple on a golf cart with a skeleton!!

Then to Don Wai Floating Market - worth visiting.

Then a vist to to a temple - Wat Rai King (Wat Mongkhon Chindaram).

Then we came upon a beautiful place for a coffee and cake - Chata Thammachart.

We ate and watched the birds flying. Then they ploughed the rice fields - very picturesque!

The it was time to visit the Wat Samphran Dragon Temple - certainly worth visiting!! Here are some drone photographs.

Now it was well past lunchtime! So we stopped at The Three Little Pigs - an organic Farm and Cafe.

Then it was time to visit a Chedi - Phra Pathom Chedi - very impressive.

Popular with people and training monks!

Then it was Sanam Chandra Palace - a little bit odd!

Then Once Upon a Tree for dinner.

Azure Café

Azure Cafe was somewhere I came across on a walk through Bangkok.

A lovely peaceful spot - nobody else there

and with a very nice coffee (with a small cake) - thank you.

Chatuchak Weekend Market (Visit 3)

We are going to Chatuchak Weekend Market soon and I do not know how many times we have been.

It is always worth going.

"Chatuchak Market is open on Saturdays and Sundays, 09:00 – 18:00, and Fridays 18:00 – 24:00. You can get to Chatuchak Market by the sky train (BTS) to Mo Chit Station and taking exit no.1 and follow the crowd until you see a small entrance to the market. Another way to get to the market is by taking the subway (MRT) to Chatuchak Park Station take exit no.1 and then following the crowd until you see a small entrance to the market. Moreover, you can take taxis, buses and vans to get to Chatuchak Market or if you are driving to the market, you can park your cars at Chatuchak Park Ride and they have convenient shuttle buses between the parking lots and Chatuchak Market."
