Chocolate Ville (BKK) Visit ?

Chocolate Ville was somewhere we came across

and there was obviously a lot of things there.

The food was good

and so were the things that were done for our daughter - maybe somewhere for a celebration?

วัดดอนหวาย Wat Don Whai (Nakhon Pathom)

We took a trip to Nakon Pathom and we saw a great many things.

It was (as many Wats are in Thailand) taken care of and worth visiting. BUT I could find very little about it! Here is a post in French.

There is a Floating Market adjacent to this and this gets more written about it - unfortunately the market was not open when we visited.

There were biscuits for sale at the entrance to the temple and

this was adjacent to a skeleton which was sat with a 'wai' as you entered.

Wat Maha That (Ayutthaya)

Wat Maha That was a marvellous Wat to visit whilst we were in Ayutthaya. I was especially taken with the Buddha structure underneath the tree - very special.

Then there was so much more to find - and when I looked at Google I saw that there was more than I did - a good reason to return.

It is a pagoda built in the early stages of the Ayutthaya period which was influenced by the Khmer Prang. The lower floor is laterite construction, but the upper part is cemented bricks. King Prasat Thong has restored the new pagoda by adding it to a higher height. But at this moment, the top has collapsed, leaving only the porch floor. Hence, it is disappointing because there is evidence that it is a very large pagoda and a very beautiful construction. In 1956, the Fine Arts Department excavated this prang. Many ancient pieces are found, which are important pieces of stone in the interior, there are seven floors of stupas, divided into chin, silver, otter, black wood, red moonwood, garnet and gold, the inner layer contains relics and precious jewelry At present, the relics are enshrined at the Chao Sam Phraya National Park. Another interesting thing in the temple is Sandstone Buddha Head Which is covered with roots, I understand that this Buddha's head will fall to the base of the tree in the ruin of the city until the roots are covered with a different beauty. Located at the foot of Pa Than Bridge East of Wat Phra Sri Sanphet Some chronicles say that this temple was built during the reign of King Rama I, later King Ramesuan graciously invited the relics to be placed under the base of the temple's main prang in 1927.

We took more than one day trip to Ayutthaya.

Wat Suwanannaphumahan (Laos)

Wat Mai Suwanannaphumahan was somewhere which we visited because so much had been written about it being so beautiful that the invading Chinese could not destroy the Wat.

We visited here on Day One of a trip to Laos.

Museum Siam (Bangkok)

Museum Siam was a museum which I first found in a book about the stage things in Bangkok but during COVID19 it was temporarily closed.

I recognised some of the more common things in Thailand - such as these.

And these  (but I have forgotten their names and hope to remember by the time I get to the bottom).

So it is full of strange and interesting things

Happy Chinese New Year - the Year of the Ox

The Chinese New Year may not have been celebrated in the way that I normally do - but they did at The Mall in Bangkapi.

These are links to the previous celebrations

Maruekhathaiyawan Palace (Hua Hin)

The summer seaside Palace, often referred to as "the palace of love and hope is located midway between Cha-Am and Hua Hin. It was built in 1923 under the royal command of King Rama VI using golden teakwood from the demolished Hat Chao Samran Palace.

We decided to have something to eat. And have a family photo together.

We walked to the end - where the building meets the sea.

The Palace, which is also called “The Palace of Love and Hope”, is made up of three sections connected by long covered walkways. Two long covered corridors connect the Palace with the beach, one from the King’s personal living quarters and one from the women’s section of the Palace.

The views were amazing.
