Nonthaburi is a heavily populated central Thai province that lies northwest of Bangkok, in the Chao Phraya River basin. In the east, the small river island of Ko Kret is known for its artisanal pottery and Wat Poramaiyikawat museum, containing Buddhist relics, porcelain and crystalware. Farther south along the river, the Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat temple is a royal monastery decorated with mirrors and mosaics. So it was not far away.
Our first stop was at Present Simple Cafe and it was a lovely spot for lunch. And we were surrounded by interesting things to look at.
Then we visited an enormous (and getting bigger) Chinese Temple (วัดบรมราชากาญจนาภิเษกอนุสรณ์ (เล่งเน่ยยี่ 2).
Then we looked around and there was the Suan Malai Victoria Lily and we can see what there was.
Then a Chinese Temple (ศาลเจ้าพ่อปึงเถ่ากงม่าเจ้าแม่ทับทิม) next to the river.
Then we investigated the Museum of Nonthaburi and there was a lot of it falling apart!
Then there was another temple investigated - Wat Chompu Wek - and this was a busy temple but also very peaceful.
Back home and we stopped for dinner at Indy Rest in the local Sammakorn.
And had a coffee at Ruenros.
