Chinese New Year (2022) - Year of the Tiger

What are you doing for Chinese Year?
This is at The British Club in Bangkok - not been here for a very long time...

Russell Sunset Bar (Phuket)

I met Russel when I first worked in Thailand at Cape Panwa Hotel.

I have moved to Bangkok

but Russell still has his Sunset Bar - we visited in December 2021.

Certainly a bar worth visiting.

Wat Traimitr Withayaram

Wat Traimitr Withayaram is also known as the 'Temple of the Golden Buddha'.

The text below is from 'Renown Travel'.

The Wat Traimit temple in the Chinatown area of Bangkok is a Royal temple famous for the enormous gold Buddha image it houses.

The temple, which is officially named Wat Traimit Withayaram Worawihan and also known as “The Temple of the Golden Buddha” enshrines the massive solid gold Buddha image named Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakon displaying the
subduing Mara mudra.

Largest solid gold Buddha image in the world

For centuries the true identity and value of the image were not known, until by accident in the 1950’s it was discovered that the image was made of solid gold. The image is more than three meters high, weighs some five and a half tons and is most likely some 700 to 800 years old. It is the largest solid gold Buddha image in the world.

History of the gold Buddha

The origin of the huge Buddha image is not exactly known. Because of its style it is assumed that it was cast during the Sukhothai era, the Kingdom that existed from 1238 until 1438 with the city of Sukhothai in Northern Thailand as its center.

So it was certainly worth taking the time out to visit this Wat.

Salad Factory (BKK) Visit 3

We have been here a number of times.

And we have always been happy. A selection of dishes - always prepared whilst we are there.

But the restaurant was deserted.

Soi 76 (Bangkok)

Soi 76 in Bangkok is somewhere I was going via to get somewhere else.

For some reason I stoped to look more carefully at the Public small Wats which are placed alongside the road.

They are really quite special.

Thank you to whomever looks after the ones I take photographs of.

Going on a Walk (2)

After a visit to Theptarin Hospital I was told to do more exercise - so I went on longer walks...

I have no idea what this was on the ground?

Then this was the motorbike on the pavement - going in one direction.

But this motorbike was going in the other direction on the pavement!

Breakfast anyone?

Not sure where the monk was going?

This walk was taken in November 2021.
