Phatthalung - somtum bypass

We visited Somtum By Pass whilst we were in Phatthalung but I seem to have lost my photographs so I only have two from my telephone.

Not where I thought I would meet 'The Incredible Hulk'.

    

Phatthalung - Bingna Café

Bingna Cafe was a cafe we found in Phatthalung in a beautiful position on our first day there.

The cafe was placed amongst a field for vegetables and you had to reach there by walking over bridges.

We didn't just have coffee but we had lunch as well.

Certainly worth a visit. 

    

Phatthalung - Pak Khlong - SRT4321

On our journey to Phattalung we came across a train track.

And we had to stop because it was busy.

Maybe I should take a trip on the train one day?

We have visited Phatthalung a number of times and there is always something interesting to see - especially as I have spent so much of my time in Bangkok. I wonder what was in the cans?

Some walls were painted.

Is this really a shop which sells peas?

Then there was the Bed Bank!?

And somewhere the old televisions were dumped.

Phatthalung - Wat Khao Aor

Wat Khao Aor in Phatthalung was another Wat to visit 

BUT this one was very special because there was also a cave to descend into!

Wat Khao Aor (วัดเขาอ้อ)

in Amphoe KhuanKhanun. Before becoming a Temple, it was considered to be a centre of learning, called the ThisaPamok School that was similar toTakkasila in India, presumably founded before 857 by Brahmins from India during the age of “Dravidian Yatra”, which is the time that the Brahmins expanded the religious belief from India. This place was famous for supernaturalpowers and ancient medicine, especially, related toWan, an herbal plant; later there wasa Wandipping ritual and manyother forms of black magic until it became well-known nationwide as a place that had inherited the magic and spells for invulnerability until today.  At present, the“Follow the path of the Lord Buddha, Follow a trace of the ritual of Khao O House” Festival takes place annually. But there was very little more to find - we visited here because my beautiful Thai wife used to live here.

Certainly worth visiting if you are in the area.

 

    

Phatthalung - Kwanjai Bamboo Garden Agrotourism

Kwanjai Bamboo Garden Agrotourism was somewhere we found whilst driving through Phatthalung.

And on writing this review I could find very little in English about สวนไผ่ขวัญใจ.

The best that I could find were Google Reviews and only one Tripadvisor Review.

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the local foods that we ate BUT only on the weekend.

     

Phatthalung - Sampaothai

Sampaothai in Patthalung was somewhere we visited because it looked interesting from a distance.

How many fields do you know which have a Pirate ship in the middle if it? And this Pirate ship was being pulled by a gorilla!

On returning to Bangkok I found a video on YouTube that someone had made which was a very good way of describing what was here.

We went on the walkways and were surprised at art we found.

Jemma found a spot to relax.

People in love could share a seat.

We went for a walk and found out where you could stay for the night.

Obviously only after you had ridden the animals.

What this gorilla was there for I am not quite sure.

Sampaothai is a fantastic place to relax and watch artworks, ancient vehicles, rice field, organic vegetables farm and flowers.
