Is it Durian Season?

Durian is not a choice of mine but as I go to one of the three coffee shops down our Soi there seems to be someone here everyday.

Do you like Durian?

Can you skateboard?

Watch this space.

Having a skateboard is something popular at the moment.

So Jemma got her first skateboard and is going to learn to skateboard with her cousin.

I was not good at skateboarding when I was young - maybe I can do it now?

Visaka Bucha Day (26th May)

Wat Phra Buddhabat - a large Wat, a reclining Buddha, rock with the shape of the Buddha on it and more, location: https://goo.gl/maps/EHAjnoeS1n12.

Visakha Bucha Day commemorates the three major events in the life of Buddha: his birth, his enlightenment, and his death.

Visakha Bucha Day (วันวิสาขบูชา) or Wan Pra Yai วันพระใหญ่  marks the three important incidents in the life of Lord Buddha (พระพุทธเจ้า) on the same day – the full moon of the sixth lunar month. The three significant separate events are :
1. The Buddha’s Birth (ประสูติ)
2. The Enlightenment of Buddha (ตรัสรู้) – While sitting under the Bodhi tree, he found his answer and attained the enlightenment at the age of 35 years.
3. The Nibbana (ปรินิพพาน)- The Buddha passed away on Tuesday, the Vesak full moon day in the zodiac year of the small snake under the two Sal trees in the Sala Grove of the Mallas in Kusinara, the capital of the Malla state, (nowadays located in Kusinagara of Uttrarapradesa, India) at the age of eighty years (around 2547 years ago).Wisaka Bucha Day falls every year in the month of May. This year it is Friday, May 20.
Wisaka Bucha Day is regognized as most important memorial day in Buddhism for the Lord Buddha. Wisaka Bucha day is also recognized by the UNESCO in 1999 as “World Heritage Day”. Thailand where is the permanent location of the World Fellowship of Buddhists, was chosen to host celebrating event for the day.

Pet Public - Visit 2

Pet Public was somewhere we found in a magazine

It was also a place where I could get a coffee.

The dogs came to see me at the table but I have to admit to not being particularly interested - my daughter was though.

Then there was the lizard!

Then the tortoise!!

Then the monkey

Then the snakes!!!

but these were kept in the cages!

Brighton College International School

I did not know that there was a Brighton College International School just outside Bangkok.

A fruit shake (Ramkhamhaeng 76)

With all the comments that I have had regarding the amount of coffee that is sold on my street I decided to have something different.

I had a fruit shake!

Then I had a coffee....

And tomorrow is a different day

Saraburi - Wat Bang Khan

We took a weekend away from Bangkok and decided to spend our weekend in Saraburi

The first place we usually stop is at a Wat and today was the same - we stopped as Wat Bang Khan.

We were graciously received by their blue elephant.

But the actual Wat was closed.

So we stayed looking at what was surrounding it.

Phatthalung - Chaloem Phrakiat 80 Phansa Bridge

The Chaloem Phrakiat 80 Phansa Bridge was in Phattalung where we were visiting Chuen's family.

It wasn't just a bridge.

It was an enormous amount of elevated road crossing an enormous amount of distance - have a look at the google map below.

There seemed to be people with cattle there

and I am not sure but this looked like a home!?
