เมืองบาดาล วัดใต้น้ำ - Kanchanaburi

We took a trip to Kanchanaburi and one of our places to visit was เมืองบาดาล วัดใต้น้ำ and is recognised as part of Unseen ThailandIn the pouring rain this building was in the middle of rising water - it looked liked it peaked out of nowhere!

We stepped out of the boat into low water. Immediately it was clear that this was certainly a special site - there were people selling animals to be released and other article for worship inside เมืองบาดาล วัดใต้น้ำ.

We walked in to the building past the place of respect outside

and into the one inside.

After paying respects inside we came out the other end.

We walked around the outside.

The water had begun to subside at the front and the bell was now uncovered.

Certainly an interesting place to visit.

The Chao Phraya River in Bangkok

The Chao Phraya River in Bangkok is an interesting place to travel along. There is so much to see as you are on the Chao Phraya River - and this is certainly not the complete list - and all these photographs are without getting off!

I have always got the orange ticket ferry. This is starting at Saphan Taksin - BTS and on the east side of the river.

Shark Fin

I am still surprised to see Shark Fin.

BUT I guess that there is a lot of money in it...

Mother's Day Weekend - off to Hua Hin

We decided to go somewhere for the weekend - we drove to Hua Hin.

We saw a few things on the way.

Stopped for something to eat.

Saw some great coaches in the parking spots.

We were staying at the Anantasila Resort - nice place with a beach just a stones throw...

Then there was a small cafe - a great little spot.

Then it was time to take mum out for dinner.

Then time for some shopping - at Cicada Market.

And of course some 'breakdancing'.

Remembering to get up early the next day we met the monks. After a leisurely breakfast we took a drive - having Pad Thai at ครัวปีกไม้ - very nice.

It was then a visit and afternoon tea at ร้านน้ำชา พระราชวังมฤคทายวัน Tea Room

A late night party and I popped out for a coffee at 1d+ Day ArtistAfter an expensive (and disappointing) breakfast we checked out.

 And drove back to Bangkok

Walking Routes in Bangkok - dolls and more

Stop 1: Witthayu Pier - a small pier for the river taxi on Wireless Road - a place to watch the boats speed up and down, or watch the sleeping?

Stop 2: L'Angollo Cafe - a great cafe on the corner of Wireless Road and Phetchauri Road, they have a great selections of coffee here

Stop 3: Talad Neon Night Market - unfortunately during the day there is not a lot there apart from the row of tents

Stop 4: Chinese Shrine - next to the Berkeley Hotel (Pratunam), a pleasure finding places like this

Stop 5: The alleyways were twisting and turning and there were more lanes here than what was on the map!

Stop 6: Coffee Color Cafe -  a colourful cafe I passed after all those twists and turns - I popped in on the way back as well...

Stop 7: Bangkok Dolls was successfully reached - despite being guarded by a dog further up the road, a wonderful find if it interests you!!!

Stop 8: Pratunam Market - a great market which just seems to get bigger when you are inside - prepared to be there a while - I was and most of the time was trying to get out!

Stop 10: ร้านลาบ ท่าเรือประตูน้ำ - a small restaurant slightly raised but next to the Khlong and Pratunam Pier - a great place for a bite to eat, certainly worth stopping here, outside but not crammed

Stop 11: Pratunam Pier and the river taxi is my way back to where I started, still use the river taxi as a great means to get around Bangkok

Cafe Moda (closed)

We had seen Cafe Moda a number of times but it was in the evening - today we were there in the afternoon - bingo, it was open.

It was not just a coffee shop though - the shop had a plethora of clothing, decorations, bits and pieces and more.

So don't go in with too much money because you will be sure enough to come out with lots of things!

And the coffee - the latte was wonderful - smooth and just a little sweet. We also received a Hokkaido Dessert to accompany it.

We found a very special place here - thank you.
