Does it matter what computer you use?

Tried to book an airline ticket for a Traveller in need BUT found that the computer that I was using does not support Security Control - because it needs Internet Explorer...

This reminds me of the Article regarding an App for booking a hotel - Orbitz was 'exploring' charging more for the user of a Mac...

As long as Amazon does not I'm okay

No more Tesco in Phuket?

As I wandered amid Phuket Town I came across these signs on the newest
market area in Phuket Town.

After taking so long to build this building are they really going to let Tesco build more?

I do hope not.

Where's the best Som Tam in Phuket?

This was the best Som Tam that I have ever tasted in Phuket.

We were in a local restaurant just outside Phuket Town
Nong Sow.

This was the lady who made it.

Butterfly at home.

We did not have to go to the Butterfly and Insect Garden this week - we had a visitor.

But there was no coffee shop here.

Overhead wires - what happens next? (Post 2)

During the last few weeks I have been lucky enough to have some early mornings to wander around Phuket Old Town and it is wonderful.

What I do recognise now though is the amount of wires above me (i think that they are wires for the telephone but I am not sure) that are in great abundance.

is this for good luck?
Even if I have been getting up early what I haven't been able to see yet is the giving of the food to the monks yet though - but that will be on a separate post - if I manage to wake up early enough though.

Laemthong Seafood - Hong Kong - Shark Fin!!!!!

After my elation that the Chinese Restaurant in Phuket Town - opposite Anna's - was closing I was disgusted to see that it is being refurnished.

It is now finished - note that the Shark Fin is no longer on the top -
I wonder whether it is still on the menu however?

Then as I wandered through Phuket Town I was further shocked to read that Laemthong  Seafood - opposite Ocean in Phuket Town sells Shark Fin soup.

First Class Shark Fin in Gravy Sauce   s.700 Bht  m.3,500 Bht  l.7,000 Bht
Shark Fin Soup    s.380 Bht  m.1,800 Bht  l.2,800 Bht
Stir Fried Dry Shark Fin     s.380 Bht  m.950 Bht  l.1,800 Bht

This is WRONG...

Happy Birthday HRH Queen Sirikit from Laem Chan Park

After a busy day of coffee shops, fixing the camera, Japanese lunch and swimming at Rawai we drove through Phuket Town and came upon a celebration of the Queen's Birthday at Laem Chan Park,

It was busy - there was so much to eat.

There were a plethora of activities to try - from making a brush,
sewing a roof to making Thai kanom.

  Happy Birthday Queen Sirikit.

not sure what this is - do you know??

Then out came the statues, the breakdancers and more...

There was so much to buy

Asanha Bucha Day อาสาฬหบูชา

Asanha Bucha day celebrates the Buddha's first sermon to his first 5 disciples after attaining Enlightenment more than 25,000 years ago.

We observe the day in Phuket by listening to sermons and making a donation - we visited Wat Vichit Sangkaram in Phuket Town .

The temple was lit and open to the public, we all sat inside in with our small donations and gift (joss, candle, flower) and waited for the monk to give us a sermon.

After the sermon we were all blessed by the monks - I went to the front with Jemma to be touched by the water flicked by the monk.

We then walked around the Wat three times with offerings - but I am not clear (yet) as to why - but a wonderful experience.

Then we lit candles and placed them in the sand outside the Wat - wonderful.
